Our mission is to lead all people to God through Jesus Christ and to embody His love by embracing one another as Christ loved the Church—regardless of gender, age, race, national origin, or sexual orientation. In this spirit, we welcome everyone to worship with us.
Our Calling to Ministry
My husband and I answered God’s call to ministry in the Columbus, GA, and Chattahoochee Valley area in January 2000. After much prayer and reflection, we stepped out in faith to start an affirming church—one that welcomes everyone, including both LGBTQ and heterosexual communities—united as one body in Christ.
We officially founded the church on February 20, 2000, and held our first service just a week later on February 27 at the Rivertown Inn in downtown Columbus, beginning with just six members. Originally named Anchored in Christ Ministries, our church is now known as New Covenant Columbus GA.
Throughout the years, we’ve partnered with our community on many projects and extended our reach through various acts of service. God has blessed our ministry richly, and today we are a strong and growing congregation.
Here at New Covenant Columbus, you are welcomed, loved, and accepted just as you are. Our vision is to share God’s unconditional love with everyone and to follow Jesus’s example by loving God and loving others.
We pray that you’ll join us and experience the transformative love of Christ and the warmth of His people.

Our Beliefs
The Bible
- The Scriptures, encompassing both the Old and New Testaments, are divinely inspired and serve as God’s revelation to humanity. They are the foundation for our faith and guide for our conduct. (2 Timothy 3:15-17, 2 Peter 1:19-21)
- The Bible is our all-sufficient rule for faith and practice.
The Holy Trinity
- one God who exists eternally as three distinct persons. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who are fully and equally God.. (Genesis 1:26, Deuteronomy 6:4, Mark 1:9-11)
- The Father – God is all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, unchanging, and completely holy: worthy of our trust and worship. He is the source of our existence, and in Him we live, move, and have our being. As our loving Father, God is good, compassionate, and faithful, always keeping His promises and caring for His people. (Exodus 3:14, Numbers 23:19, Psalm 11:4-6, Malachi 3:6, John 3:16, Acts 17:28, Romans 3:3-4)
- The Son – The Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was miraculously born of a virgin and lived a sinless life, demonstrating His divine authority through miracles. He died on the cross as a substitute for our sins, was bodily resurrected, and conquered death. Now exalted at the right hand of God, He reigns as Lord and intercedes for His people. (Matthew 1:18-23, 1 Corinthians 15:1-8, Acts 1:9-11)
- The Holy Spirit – The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, leads us to repent and confess Jesus as Lord, and dwells within believers to guide, teach, and empower them for service. He equips us with spiritual gifts, comforts us, and helps us grow in Christlikeness. His presence assures us of our salvation and continually glorifies Christ while guiding us into all truth. John 16:8-10, Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 12:4-9)
Mankind
- The Fall of Man – Man was originally created good and in God’s image, intended to live in perfect fellowship with Him. However, through voluntary disobedience, humanity fell, bringing both physical death and spiritual separation from God. This fall damaged our relationship with God and introduced sin into human nature, but God’s plan for redemption offers restoration through Jesus Christ. Genesis 1:26, Genesis 3:9-13
- Man’s Salvation – Salvation is only possible through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who redeems humanity from sin. The Holy Spirit confirms this salvation inwardly, while a transformed life of righteousness, peace, joy, and holiness shows it outwardly. Salvation is received by faith in Jesus Christ, expressed through calling on His Name and confessing Him as Lord. It is not automatic but requires a personal trust in Christ, resulting in new life and restored relationship with God. (Romans 10:9-10 / Acts 2:21 / Joel 2:32)
Baptism
- The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a promised experience for all believers to seek after their new birth, empowering them with spiritual power for living and ministry, just as the early Church experienced. This baptism brings an overflowing fullness of the Spirit, deepening reverence, greater dedication to God’s work, and increased love for Christ and others. The initial evidence of this baptism is speaking in tongues, which serves as a sign of the Holy Spirit’s presence and empowerment, distinct from but related to the spiritual gift of tongues. (Romans 6:3-4, Matthew 3:16, John 1:33, Acts 1:5)
The Church
- The Church is the living Body of Christ, where God dwells through the Spirit, composed of all believers who each play a vital role in fulfilling its mission. Its purpose is to seek and save the lost, bring worship to God, and nurture believers to grow into the likeness of Jesus. Through the Church, God’s love is made known, His kingdom advanced, and His people equipped to live out His calling in the world. Matthew 16:15-19, Ephesians 4:14-16, Acts 2:41-47)
- Sanctification is the process of being set apart from sin and devoted to God. Scripture calls us to live a holy life, declaring that without holiness no one will see the Lord. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, believers are empowered to obey the command to “be holy, for I am holy.” This sanctification is experienced by the believer as they embrace their union with Christ in His death and resurrection.
- The Ministry is a divinely appointed and biblically established role given by the Lord to fulfill three main purposes: to lead the Church in evangelizing the world, worshiping God, and nurturing believers toward maturity in the likeness of His Son. We also affirm the priesthood of all believers, recognizing that every Christian shares in the ministry of serving God and His Church (1 Peter 2:4-5, 9; Revelation 1:6).
- Divine healing is a fundamental aspect of the gospel. Healing from sickness is included in the atonement and is available to all believers as a privilege. We also believe that when someone is ill, the Elders should be called to anoint them with oil in prayer, trusting that the Lord will bring restoration (James 5:15).
The Second Coming
- The second coming is the joyful expectation of Christ’s imminent return, when He will resurrect deceased believers and transform those still alive to be with Him forever. This promise encourages the Church to live faithfully, anticipating their reunion with Christ and the fulfillment of eternal life. (John 14:1-3, Matthew 24:29-31, Revelation 19:11-21)
